Matt Mahaffey: Poised for Mainstream Success?

Matt Mahaffey..................

I wonder............

Will you ever Break Out?

Matt Mahaffey is one of the musical geniuses of our era. He has produced and performed on NUMEROUS records, as well as recorded some of the best Abstract Pop albums EVER. Not to mention he was a part of Beck's touring band to help Guero and The Information AND is one half of the Glitch Rock group Wired All Wrong. So WHY HAVENT YOU HEARD OF HIM? Is that what you are asking yourself? Yeah, I don't know either. But, what I do know, is that DEFINITELY sucks.

But it isnt ENTIRELY your fault, I mean sElf has had their fair share of major speed bumps along the way. One of the most recent being that their milestone record Ornament and Crime was shelved by Universal and will NEVER see the light of day. This album most definitely could have gathered some attention for them. Here is a short look into the making of Ornament and Crime

Self - O&C Sessions

So, after that happened, the enitre sElf community was pretty bummed. I mean, what next? Its not like an artist would be chomping at the bit to hop immediately back into the studio to make another record. But at least we were able to hear Porno, Mint and Grime. A whopping 21 track B-Side record that was released to coincide with the Non-Release of O & C. Please Go Download it! This all occurred roughly between 2000 and 2005.

Okay, So, Whats New?

A radio interview along with two new tracks were just released!

Here is a clip of the interview which you can download for free HERE.

Oh and BTW, that's Me.

After reading this post and listening to the tunes, I hope I've inspired you to become a fan. So, if you are interested in hearing more sElf head on over to www.self-centered.org and gimmie a shout! I'm all over the message board, along with TONS of other "Selfies".

and if you are interested in just what the whole toy album thing is about.
